This name suits our film because of the fact that the girl is being unexpectedly followed by someone throughout the forest.
The 6-15 institutional/genre conventions we will include in our film are:
Characters:
- Character is a girl alone in the forest which makes her more vulnerable
Setting/time:
- Our film will be set in the afternoon which makes it feel as if it is just a normal afternoon making what happens more unexpected.
Plot:
- A girl will be going on a walk in the forest as a normal activity but unexpectedly, someone else will be joining her, the stalker will be following her throughout the bush as viewers watch as the girl becomes more panicked. As she starts to run the stalker keeps following finally catching up to her in the end as she screams. The ending is some sort of cliff hanger as it is not to clear what happened to her and why he wanted her leaving suspense.
Props/costume:
- The girl will be in normal clothes going for a walk, the clothes show the fact that she was only there for a walk and was not prepared for anything unexpected to happen
Filming/editing choices:
- Short shots will be chosen over long drawn out shots to increase the pancaked feel of the girl
Sound:
- Sound will be mostly non-diegetic as the music put in after will not be heard by the characters in the film but just by the viewers to increase tension and suspense.
- Most sound effects such as footsteps or branches creaking will be recorded during filming as well as after if needed to be enhanced, they will also be diegetic.
Plot Synopsis
First shots:
- Car pulls up to forest
- Girl gets out of car and heads into forest
- Phone has no signal ( increasing vulnerability )
- Girl walks deeper in to the forest
- Pace is not too fast but shots will be shorter rather than long as the short faster shots will make it seem faster and more intense
- The pace of the film will slightly increase throughout the film to make it more intense and almost creates a sense of urgency
- The girl will be in the forest, supposedly alone and isolated, no one else will be in sight this will increase her vulnerability as she has no one to help or call for around to help save her.
- Music put into the film will be non-diegetic as well as some sound effects put in after, but, there will be diegetic sound throughout the film such as natural sounds in the forest and dialogue.
Girl:
- Name: Emily
- Emily is the reason our film is taking place as she is the one in the forest being watched and followed by a mysterious guy.
- She is a girl in the forest along with her phone out of signal creating a dangerous situation
- Mysterious
- The stalker creates fear throughout our film as he is the one putting the girl into danger as for some reason he is after the girl
How realistic is our idea:
- Our film could be a very realistic thing in some countries or places where kidnapping or stalking could occur more often.
- There should be no health and safety issues amount actors and filming crew however there is always a risk that something could go wrong with equipment as it is being taken off sight, but, is all gear is taken care of there should be no complications.
- We will be filming in the forest so will have to inform school when we will be filming and taking the equipment out.
- Our film will be in the afternoon
- We will be filming on the weekend
- We will be filming outside so if raining we will have to postpone our film to the nest day or next weekend.
- We will be using the camera, sound equipment and stand for camera, this will all have to be transported to our filming area.
