A treatment for
It is proposed that the film will be about 2-2.30 minutes duration, and will be filmed in a forest aswel as a house that will be necessary for our film.
This film will include the following conventions of a thriller film
- Lighting - lighting will change throughout the film from afternoon to dark, shots outside will be earlier on so will lighter but as she gets back to the it becomes dark showing incoming danger and give the scenes more of an eerie feel.
- Sound -
- The use of a young girl will show vulnerability and increase the amount of danger in this situation.
- The emptiness of the area or the lack of people around makes her feel more vulnerable as there is no one around to help her and to her there is supposedly no one around her at all. She is oblivious to the situation that is occurring around her in the beginning.
The following film openings have similar feels to ours;
After doing some research, these movies seem to have some similar traits to them
"The Strangers" (2008)
Opens with a couple returning to a house in the woods. There's a calm buildup, but strange knocks and noises lead to a home invasion.
"Hush" (2016)
A deaf woman living alone in the woods is stalked by a masked killer. The film opens with a peaceful, isolated setting and slowly reveals she is being watched
"It Follows" (2014)
Uses long, quiet shots of suburban life and eerie isolation. The horror creeps in slowly through the sense that something is following the protagonist.
Problems that may be encountered
- Being day light savings, it becomes much darker earlier in the afternoon, this means we will have to be very conscious of time as we need a decent amount of light while filming outside.
- Coming into winter, we will need to be aware that we might have to change filming dates due to rainy weather or even extremely muddy ground as part of our movie is in the forest. Mud could be slippery as well as making it harder to keep the equipment clean.
The film will include the following-

Girl
- The use of a girl will increase vulnerability and make her situation, in a way, seem more dangerous.
- This character will be more unknown and will be kept more concealed.
Ideology
- The use of a girl will show vulnerability
- In contrast the stalker will be unfazed by the girls fear and will be superior
- The main idea In this film is playing with the idea of fear of being at home alone at dark aswell as the thought of being followed
- The mood of our film will be suspenseful as you would expect a thriller to be, as the clip goes on the viewers will begin to feel concerned and suspenseful.
- The isolated atmosphere will make it seem more suspenseful and scary
- When music is used it will create an intense feel and a sense of urgency amount viewers.
- Camera will mainly be on the girl but will include many shots of the surrounding aswel as showing the other figure being around her.
- We will include many establishing shots of the house and forest.
- The use of close ups will help create emotion throughout this short clip as it will show emotion weather is be fear on the girls face or girls feet to show an increase in pace.
- Evident themes in this film will be vulnerability on the girls side.
- There will also be stereotypical themes of girls being more vulnerable.
- The narrative in this film builds suspense as we watch the girl realize that someone else is around, following her
- Our film will be set in a forrest aswel as a house
- The use of the house will cause discomfort as to most a house is there safe place and in this case her house has turned into, in a way, a trap.
- Our film will have natural sound throughout the clips aswel as music and sound effects added in after.
- There will be both diegetic and non-diegetic sounds
- Our logo will appear at the beginning of the film, if sound/music is wanted in this it will be inserted after.
- Our name is bacon productions, this will come across the screen in the beginning just before our clip starts
- The credits will appear on the screen in the beginning of the clip to show the main actors/director creating a professional look
- Editing will vary based on the scene, in more intense scenes, clips will be edited to seem more intense and fast pace while the scenes before danger will be made to seem more peaceful, making her look completely unaware of what is about to happen.
Summary of the opening of our film
- A girl will start off home and we will show a few clips of her getting ready to leave, she then heads out for a walk in the forest, this is when the stalker will be shown and she will get suspicious as she starts to hear sounds, she then heads home but when she arrives she realizes that things are off, the door is slightly open that she was sure she closed aswel as lights turned on and things upturned and changed inside clearly showing something is off. It will then be revealed that someone else is there with her too.
